Turn an event introduction into a lasting connection

Making connections

You had a good conversation at an event. Now what? A small follow-up can help you keep in touch without making it feel like a sales pitch.

Before you go

Check that your HPA profile reflects your current role and company. Keep your professional profile QR code handy so you can share your details when someone wants to stay connected.

During the conversation

Ask what the other person is working on, who they help, or what kind of professional connection would be useful to them. Share something specific about your own work, too.

After the event

Find the person in your city’s HPA directory and send a connection request. Once connected, send a brief message that refers to something you discussed.

For example:

It was good meeting you at the event. I enjoyed hearing about your work. If it would be helpful, I’d be glad to continue our conversation about community partnerships.

Keep it personal and low-pressure. One useful conversation is worth more than a long list of contacts.

Find your HPA city or choose your next event.
